The structure

Swiss pairing is a tournament format used in chess and other competitive games where players are paired against opponents with similar running scores. Pairings for each round are determined after the previous round ends, based on the results.

Age Categories

In order to recognise the achievement of younger players, we'll be awarding prizes to top performers in each age category U6, U8, U10, U12 & U18

Special Observers

Usually Scholastic Chess only allow Arbiters access to the playing area during rounds. However, for those wishing to use this event as an evaluation platform, we offer schools the chance to nominate a teacher or coach to observe their team during rounds.

Team Cohesion

Competitive Experience

Get your team match-ready with a tournament designed to simulate the format of Hong Kong inter-school competitions. This event offers the perfect warm-up to identify strengths, uncover improvement areas, and sharpen your game tactics.

For some, an inter-school event might be their first taste of a tournament setting and team play, intensifying the pressure of an already challenging experience. A warm-up event can ease those "match-day" jitters and allow your child to perform at their best.

Team Selection

We encourage schools to register their entire team. Use this unique opportunity to build team spirit and simulate the full inter-school experience, empowering your players to gain a competitive edge before the main event.

Leverage the event as a critical evaluation tool for finalising your team. Coaches and team managers are encouraged to attend and observe the players in action. This is your chance to identify consistent performers, spot emerging talents, and make informed decisions that will form the backbone of your inter-school lineup.
