Getting a FIDE ID for the First Time
Our FIDE Open Rapid Tournament requires a player to have a FIDE ID. There are 2 ways to obtain a FIDE ID. You can do it online, and you can obtain one from your national chess federation. You need to be a citizen (passport holder) of a country to get a FIDE ID from a country's chess federation.
Online: To obtain your FIDE ID online, you can go to arena.fide.com and obtain a FIDE membership. If you are under 18, please contact , and we can get one for you.
National Chess Federation:
The following is provided to you for reference. We are happy to assist you with other national chess federations too.
For US citizens, you may go to uschess.org, then select Join, and select Become a Member. Follow the on-screen instruction, and indicate you would like a FIDE ID.
You can obtain a FIDE ID by joining the English Chess Federation. englishchess.org.uk.
For Canadian citizens living overseas, you will be issued a FIDE ID after becoming a member of the Chess Federation of Canada. The link to join is http://chess.ca/products/membership-fees. Select CFC Adult or Junior Membership, and then select Foreign/USA membership.
For Indian citizens living overseas, you can obtain a FIDE ID by first joining the All-India Chess Federation by going online to www.aicf.in, select the Players menu, and then select New Player Registration. Indicate you would like to get a FIDE ID. One will be issued to you in about 3 business days.
